Editorial Reviews:

Amazon.com Product Description
The Griffin iTrip Auto FM Transmitter with SmartScan wirelessly sends music from your iPod to your car radio so you can listen on your car stereo speakers. It combines Griffin's renowned FM transmitter technology with an integrated charger. Designed specifically for use in the car, the SmartScan function makes it easier than ever to find the perfect frequency. SmartScan scans the radio dial for the three best frequencies and saves them to the preset buttons. The high-contrast display is easy to read in any light, and the three-stage light ring changes color to indicate charging status. Compatible with iPod (4G, 5G), iPod nano (1G, 2G, 3G), iPod Classic, and iPod touch.

4 out of 5 stars Compatible with the iPod Touch 2G   November 8, 2008
Carmine Lavno (MA USA)
I have been using a Kensington FM Transmitter (Model Number: K33185) for a few years now, until recently. I've purchased an iPod Touch [2nd generation] and learned that my Kensington FM Transmitter, that has worked wonderfully on my iPod Mini and iPod Touch [1st generation], is no longer supported with my iPod Touch [2nd generation]. According to a Kensington customer support representative; currently, there are no Kensington FM Transmitters compatible with the iPod Touch [2nd generation]. The Griffin iTip 4045-TRPAUTOS not only costs less on Amazon, but with some adjusting, works outstanding. The secret is to tune to FM 87.7 or FM 87.9 and remove your car's antenna (if you're able to). To tune to a frequency below FM 88.x, do this; select Function, select Mode, and hold down the middle button until the Griffin logo appears at the top. You can now tune to FM 87.7 or FM 87.9. I can't comment on the SmartScan functionality, because I haven't tried it out and I don't think I will.

4 out of 5 stars Good value   October 15, 2008

This fm transmitter does what the manufacturer and the reviews I read said it would do. Can't ask for much more. Saved over $30 buying on Amazon.

4 out of 5 stars Works with 3g iPhone Perfect ..well almost.   October 8, 2008

First I contacted Griffin and that told me this would work with 3g iPhone but with a warning message. I hooked it up did a smart scan and used one of the three channels . Sounds great in my area. I think in some areas you may need to do a manual scan in some areas. It will ask if you want to put in airplane mode, just say no and that's it works like a charm. They have a model made just for the 3g but why pay $30+ more. I listen to podcasts to and from my 1 hour commute. Just what I was looking for.

4 out of 5 stars Better Than Most other FM transmitter   September 1, 2008

The scan feature works great, especially if you are driving by yourself and trying to find an empty station. Only flaw I found was driving through big city, it might be hard trying to get a good radio station. I usually have to change it a few times. I would recommended to whoever that dont have a cassette deck. Sound is great.
