I purchased my US Modular Dragon 120 GB 2.5 External Combo Drive in October 2007. I received it properly boxed. I followed the directions to format the drive several times and still would not work. It did not appear in the in the removable storage drive and the LED r/w indicator light was not indicating it was reading or writing when attempting to format. After attempting to format the unit several times with no avail, I contacted Dragon's technical support division. They could not get it to format and was sent a new unit, approximately a week later. The new unit again when attempting to formating would not work. I contacted the technical support unit again. This time I was connected with a tech support person that took their time and started at the basics. They guided me through taking the cover case off the unit. Inside the unit was found that the hard drive was not seated tightly into the pin connector. After connecting the hard drive in the pin connector, the unit then showed up on the computers removable storage drive and now able to format the unit. The unit after formated shows 112 GB of storage due to the program format. It is believed the drive on both units separated from the pin connector when being shipped due to improper handling. Other than that, this storage disk works very well and I would buy another. It was an educational experience and I now know a bit more in trouble shooting the workings of these type drives. The unit comes with a good carrying case with a snap connector button, dc 5 volt connector, fire wire connector/usb 2.0 connector, a 1394 connector and the lighted indicator when r/w is in use. Unit responds quickly when in operation. Some other brand named units do not include the aforementioned connectors and having to pay extra for them. I do like this unit and recommend it.
