Installation is really simple and easy: you just connect it to the Mac and start the time-machine.
It did backup my machine for a year and a half, but I have never needed to restore it.
Well, Mac died and I have bought a new one.
40 minutes after connecting the My Book - all my stuff were up and running.
As it should....
Great product and priced to be consumed.

I needed a new drive for my Mac and this one was what the doctor ordered. Hook-up couldn't have been any easier. Just plug n play. No software to download. Formatted itself in about 10 minutes. I was transferring files fifteen minutes after hooking her up. With a high speed 2.0 USB transfer rates are like lightning. Great product-----great price.!
Works great with Airport Extreme router February 4, 2010

I bought this to plug in to my Airport Extreme router as our network drive. The HPS format works great with the airport extreme drive sharing which serves all of my windows and linux PCs in my house. I have no macs. I had problems with performance and large files using a traditional FAT32 formatted external drive. This drive has none of those problems and works great.

It works very well with my iMac! I finally got it set up with my timemachine and it backs up every time I use the computer. It was a bit difficult to get set up without instructions, but I just Googled it and got it set right up! This is a great product! They order this all the time at NIH where I work for the scientists. I thought that I'd give it a try too!
