4 out of 5 stars So easy my cats could set it up   February 6, 2010

Well, I did just hook this thing up, so I should perhaps wait before submitting a review. But I'm just giddy over how easy it was to get it going. I do have a totally Mac environment, and I had bought a wireless router made by another manufacturer a couple weeks ago and was very unsatisfied. Had to return it. Got one of these, and it was easy as pie, and my apartment is just pulsing with wireless signals!

I'm very happy with this router. I've had it now for about six months and it's been a real improvement over my previous AirPort. As soon as I saw it could handle two different broadband speeds at the same time I knew I had to have one. As you may or may not know if you have a router that can only handle 802.11n, and you use a computer or other device is a 802.11 a/b/g device it will slow down you connection to the slowest machine on the network. My wife is using a G4 power book, and a Dell on our network and now these two devices don't slow down our connection. I don't have any way to measure this, but it's quite noticable.
We get good range. The router is in a basement office and we get good signal strength on the second floor of the house. Set is a breeze, especially if your using a Mac.

I chose this router to replace my 5 year old dying d-link and it is great ! I get better range, better speed, easy to setup on a mac and on my pc with the addon software.
I love the guest network feature which I actually use to separate the slow g connected devices like my old computer or my iphone to the fast n ones like the macbook pro and the apple tv. Just Great !

4 out of 5 stars No drops! and the AirDisk feature is cool too.   October 31, 2009

My old router, a D-Link DI-524, used to drop the wireless connections multiple times a day, so it was time to upgrade

I am by no means an Apple fanboy - I'm a PC user - but decided to try the AirportExtreme because it had a reputation of being very stable and having great range. I'm pleased to say that it's lived up to my expectations! Having had it for a month now, there have been no drops, and the 802.11n connection reaches areas that formerly had no wireless signal.

Setup was straight forward and there are just enough features to satisfy my needs. I've had no problems getting it to work with my Windows XP laptop.

I've been pleased with the AirDisk feature as well. I just made sure to connect an HFS+ formatted hard disk (formatted using my wife's Macbook) and have had no issues. It's a little slow, but it's good enough for storing my music and picture library. I wish it was NFS+ compatible and a bit faster, but it's a good intro to network storage.
