Excellent backpack that is deceptively compact November 12, 2008 S. Joshi (San Mateo, CA United States) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I needed a backpack that could carry more than just a camera and a couple of lenses. With some adroit manipulation of the partitions (and adding in just one more small partition to create another compartment), my Flipside now can hold considerably more than I had thought it could, in not-overpacked comfort. here is what I can now pack into the bag:
A Sony A700 with an attached 18-250 (has space for a battery pack too, but I don't have one) Sigma 10-20 Minolta 100mm macro Minolta 1.4x adapter 1 set lens and body cap combo Two HS3600 flash units with stands Sony DSC R1 camera Sony HVL F32x flash Travel battery charger - charges batteries for both cameras One spare battery that fits both cameras few CF memory cards Lens cleaning kit - fluid, blower brush, tissue
All of these are readily accessible except one 3600 flash, the charger and flash stands, which live in the small bag on top of the flipside. The HVL 32 flash is a bear, it's this funny, awkward shape that needs a ton of space.
Needless to mention, I do not plan to lug all this around on day trips. But for traveling long distance, I can haul my gear in a moderately compact bag, then take out what is not needed for the day.
I took off the waist straps that support the backpack for waist level opening - there were too many danglies flailing about.
Love it.
Best backpack so far for its size.
I'm glad I purchased this cool little backpack! October 1, 2008 Richard Rykard (Philadelphia, Pa.) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
The Lowepro Flipside 300 Backpack is jst what I needed. I've been looking for a pack to hump my gear around, but I'm not quite ready for a $200+ pack so this Flipside is perfect for me, I like the feature which allows the pack to rotate so gear may be accessed--great for event work and street photography. I will eventually upgrade to a bigger pack, e.g., a laptop model when I finally get a D3 and ultra long glass, but yes, I am quite happy with my Flipside, and the delivery time was well under the quoted ETA. Great pack and not at all cumbersome to use.
Great design! August 28, 2008 C. L. Tuma (Ordway, CO USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Some may argue that the way this bag is designed is backward, but I think it is great. The idea of having the opening against my back and not accessible to everyone behind me is quite appealing. Carrying close to $3000 in one lens/camera combo would make for a huge loss should someone be able to access my bag from behind and quickly get away. With this bag, I know my equipment is safe. Holds my 40D with grip and 70-200f/2.8 easily. Great size for a quick get away or to go shoot my kids' games. Not oversized like my Trekker. Perfect, in my opinion.

I needed a backpack that would carry my camera, standard zoom lens, large lens and accessories, as well as the tripod. I recently went to Alaska with this backpack, and it worked out great; fit well into the carry-on spaces on planes, buses, and trains. I would highly recommend this pack.
Great Product August 5, 2008 Andrew S. Brown (cincinnati) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I purchased this backpack for a trip to south america and the security of having it only open from the back is a big plus. The pack is rigid and well padded and I do not worry about my gear inside getting damaged. The pack feels as if was built to last with durable materials and solid stitching. I use this pack for day hikes and such and find that it holds all of my necessary equipment (XTi camera body, 2-3 lenses, a few filters, tripod, memory cards and various other accessories), while not be overly large and cumbersome to carry around all day. I would recommend this product to a friend.
