3 out of 5 stars Good Game, needs a ton of computer hardware   October 9, 2008

Pretty cool game, tons of fun...but... i have a quad core pc with 4GB of ram.. and it LAGS! Check the requirements before buying.

4 out of 5 stars Fun but hard to get it to work correctly!!   September 22, 2008
Edward Walker (Grand Rapids, MI USA)
I love guitar hero. It is so much fun that I have to fight my six year old son for it. However on the pc it is hard to get it to run correctly. There seems to be a lag. I think it would work great if you have a gaming computer. I still have managed to complete over 20 songs. This game is so addictive and fun.

this game is very good and i only have one problem with it. this is that it has demanding requirements and runs slow on a low end pc like mine. it needs 1 gb of ram minimum and 2.8 ghz processor speed.
overall, this product is very good and its only fault is my own fault for not looking at the system requirements

4 out of 5 stars Functional but demanding port   September 10, 2008
Joseph Nguyen (San Francisco, CA)
I love the Guitar Hero and Rock Band games, and this is the first version that I have owned. Truth be told, this game was designed for the consoles, so it is a port and therefore requires more power than is seemingly necessary to run it.

That said, I don't have any problems running it at 800 x 600 with low detail (which, despite being the lowest setting, is still higher resolution than a non-HD tv). I run the game on both my custom-built desktop (Q6600 Core 2 Quad 2.4 GHz, 4GB RAM, X1950XT 256MB VRAM, Win XP Pro) and my MacBook Pro (T8300 2.4 GHz Core 2 Duo, 4GB RAM, GeForce 8600M GT 256MB VRAM, OSX Leopard).

The included controller is the older xbox 360 model, so it's a wired USB controller. Gameplay is great, just as good as when I play on friends' PS2 or Wii.

The only thing that disappoints me is that there's no way to download songs. This should be an area in which the PC rules (even though all the consoles have this capability now), but even though there's a function in the menu, it always says that it's unavailable.

Still, overall I highly recommend this to anyone without one of the gaming consoles or who would like to do some portable rocking out.

Pros:
Excellent gameplay
PC/Mac Hybrid disc
Portability when using a laptop

Cons:
No downloadable content
Medium and high graphics settings require more power than they should
