3 out of 5 stars Not all that fun to play   July 26, 2010

The concept of this game World of Goo is interesting, but for some reason it just didn't speak to me. I played for about 3 hours before I uninstalled. There just wasn't enough interesting puzzle stuff to keep me engaged.

5 out of 5 stars Buy this   June 8, 2010

While I could have torrented this game effortlessly, I decided to buy this game because I respect the producers for not putting any CDKey on this game. They trust that people are good inside and I heavily value their trust. This game is only 10 dollars on Steam now so I suggest you buy this game instead of torrenting it. It is extremely fascinating and offers innovative game play. Worth the money.

5 out of 5 stars Goo... gle???   May 30, 2010

I loved this game, took only one day in going through the whole thing because I could not stop!!! The MOM level just rocks, it's brilliantly insightful, I was just smiling and nodding throughout the text thinking "man, that's exactly what I think". I kept thinking if the 4th chapter was some sort of parody of Google, the MOM level just ensured me it was an ironic, sarcastic, yet well-intended mock of the search giant.
Is it possible that only three guys made this?
I think what I enjoyed best (and was most surprised at) is that every level was different... no, really! You know that feeling you get when reading a book, you're halfway through and start wondering if it's worth to keep on reading, because you pretty much got what the book is about? You don't get that feeling at all with WoG, every chapter "feels" like playing a different game altogether because the challenges are so unique each time.
Music rocks, especially that tango inspired theme, I loved it. Also the 16 bit music of the virtual corporation of goo. It's like the music was written for a movie. "Burning man" is very nice too, kinda reminds me of a Chrono Cross theme (when battling Dario, anyone?).
Looooooved the last three levels! Man, what ever happened to "difficult", why do games get easier every year? I think the last game that really challenged me to the limit was Ninja Gaiden. Anyhow, the last three levels are nice, you actually have to give it some thought. I'd say the game has the right amount of challenge to make you feel satisfied that you cleared a level, without ever having to smash your mouse out of frustration and having to stop playing to buy a new one.
So in general, a great game. Let's get to the specific aspects of it:

Graphics - awesome, beautiful, crisp, posh, you gotta love the Tim Burton-esque feeling to the game.

Playability - very good, I'd say ALMOST perfect. The physics engine is simply amazing. Why "almost" perfect? Minor issues arise when:
- trying to make reinforced square structure (i.e. a square where every vertex is connected to every other one, forming an X inside the square). There are a couple of places where you just need this technique and it's hard to pull off.
- there are a lot of goos in a small structure, making it hard to pick if there are several kinds of goo.
- the flies that undo your last move are all over the place. You'll occasionally hit one by accident.

Music - lovely, and the soundtrack is free?!?!?! Yay!

Replay value - you'll probably want to play your favorite levels every now and then, but at most you'll want to play twice through the game (the second time getting the flags for clearing each level with the "expert" restriction). Nothing more, really... Building the highest tower is not really that fun... It might be that you want to take advantage of the physics engine to "play architect", even for a school project or something (maybe).

5 out of 5 stars Best Game Ever   May 5, 2010

Bought this game for my son.(11 going on 22). At first we thought the teaser was going to be better than the game, but we were wrong.Possibly the perfect puzzle game. It makes you use your brain, thinking outside of the box but inside the rules of physics. There are a few tough levels but we encourage you to hang in there.Visually interesting in a deceptively simple way with a perfectly matched sound track. My son says overall rating Awesome- and the rest of the family had fun with it too!
